One of the thing I love about the original Star Trek is the simplicity of some of the props and sets. This weird tool was seen only in a couple scenes, both as an engineering tool and a medical device. It’s big and splits in two to reveal some neat details inside. It was just enough to look like a tool the actor was repairing the ship with. It’s so obscure it never even got a name. But when a customer hires you to build a replica of it. You do.
