Two of these keys are all that stood between us and thermonuclear destruction at the height of the Cold War. I saw an image of one of these actual keys and thought it would be a great project to learn a bit of 3D modelling AND try out shapeways.com, an online vendor for 3D printing. After a few hours in a 3D program I had a decent model. I uploaded it to shapeways and 2 weeks later my launch key was in my mailbox. The resulting key was printed and cast in solid Sterling Silver.
