I love the classic horror/sci-fi movie ALIEN. I wanted to create something based on the ALIEN universe, but not a specific prop that was in the film. This Specimen Containment Unit was designed to look like a plausible item that could have been on the starship Nostromo.

It started as a vintage military storage case I found at American Science and Surplus. I researched the graphics that were used on the film and created stickers and labels that might be on a ships storage boxes. This was a fun exercise in realistic weathering. I wanted it to look decades old and well-used. 

Inside I built four containers for harvesting on-planet specimens.
