I make replicas of props and costume pieces from film, TV, comics, and pop culture.
Props are iconic symbols for the stories, characters, and worlds you see on screen.
I started making replicas of props from my favorite films because I wanted to bring those symbols into my world, and share a deeper connection to the films I love.
Valor Replicas grew out of a desire to help others do the same. With subjects spanning feature films, TV, video games, comics, Anime and more, Valor has provided unique, handmade items for cosplayers, collectors and filmmakers around the world. Along the way I've developed a love of film design, making, learning, teaching, and speaking on the subject of making.
Below are projects I've completed for customers or my personal collection. Click on a photo for a complete project page.
I partnered with Islands of Brilliance, to design and lead a series of creative workshops for children on the autism spectrum. Accompanied by R2-D2, I spoke about my experience as a young maker. Each child designed their own droid – complete with name and backstory – and brought it to life with everyday materials and found objects.
I've had several talented filmmakers visit my shop.
I can pin it to this vintage Star Wars card from 1977 – which I still have. It's a behind-the-scenes photo of the ILM model makers who built the props and ships from the film. At 5 years old this card blew my mind. It changed how I looked at what I was seeing in films. The ships, weapons, and costumes were things that were made by artists, model makers – regular people. I wanted to know how they did it. And it inspired me, even at age 5, to start trying.
